MicrobankTM is designed to simplify storage and retrieval of bacterial and fungal cultures. It comprises of treated beads and a special cryo preservative solution. MicrobankTM eliminates the need for repetitive subculture
which often results in contaminated cultures, lost organisms or changed characteristics. The cryo preservative solution ensures longer survival of fastidious cultures and higher quantitative recoveries.
MicrobankTM Mix
The standard MicrobankTM has 80 vials each with about 25 beads, placed in a freezer box, made of durable plastic with “see though” lid. The vials have five different colored caps- Red, Yellow, Blue, Green and Light Blue-16
vials per color, to facilitate easy identification of different species or strains of bacteria. Each box has a number locator printed screen and tube collection device.
MicrobankTM Single Color Cap
MicrobankTM with all 80 vials in a single color cap- Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Light Blue-is also available. Different colors do not have any bearing on the function or performance of the product. Different colors are meant
only for easy identification of different species or strains of bacteria.
MicrobankTM Dry
MicrobankTM known as MicrobankTM Dry is available without specially formulated cryo preservative solution also. Functionally, it is same as standard MicrobankTM with cryo preservative solution. All other features remain same. A
minimum order quantity may apply to selected color where applicable.
MicrobankTM 2D
An improved version of MicrobankTM available with a unique 2D data matrix GS1 compliant Barcode on each box and each vial facilitates easier documentation and retrieval of isolates. Recently, this version has been launched in
India also to meet the growing need of meeting stringent international quality standards and requirement of documentation for traceability.
Other accessories for use with MicrobankTM like an insulated cryo block to enable the operator to remove number of vials from freezer to subculture without the risk of the culture beads defrosting, inoculating loops, sterile
cotton swabs, McFarland Standard and sterile disposable pipette are also available and can be ordered separately.
